Our boys really enjoy
learning Italian!
The games and tools used
make learning really fun!

Karen, Bloomfield, NJ

I have been taking Italian lessons from Barbara
for several years.
It is wonderful to learn from someone
who has graduated from a great language school in Milan. She
is also an expert in English and all its grammar.

As a certified English teacher this is a huge help for me
as I explore Italian grammar. Learning a language should also
include experiencing the culture
of the country, and since Barbara returns to Italy yearly
to visit her family and communicates with Italians in Italy on a
daily basis, her knowledge of the culture and current events is
easily passed on to her students
who enjoy this exchange of cultures as much as the fun
of acquiring a new language.

I am not only a retired teacher,
but also a senior citizen who has read articles
declaring that the learning of a new language is a recognized
way of continuing the development of the brain and memory
into the later years of life.
Barbara's  patience is superlative and her numerous
approaches to the teaching experience
has kept me interested way longer than
I ever expected to be taking lessons.
It is truly a part of my life that I never plan to stop in
the foreseeable future.

REALTORS

November 9, 2009

Dear Barbara,

Thank you so much for your skillful translations of my family's letters
from 1929 to 1959.  I know that translating Italian dialects is not an
easy task.  I was most impressed by the care Ciao Italiano took in
putting everything into chronological order. Taken in the order of
the dates that they were mailed together with the appropriate
responses, the correspondence reads like a book.

I learned much about: a Grandfather that I had never met; the
passionate love story of my mother and father's courtship; the
struggle to support the family in Italy, especially in the 1930's and
1940's.  I developed a new appreciation for my father's strength
and commitment to the continued well being of his parents and
siblings.

Kudos to Margaret, your talented editor, for her painstaking work
and for the wonderfully bound copies that she made together with
the DVD.

I enjoyed the way you both became emotionally involved with the
translation. As you began to shed light on my family's history, you
both seemed touched by the unfolding storyline. I felt validated in
trusting you with the project. You had a rare privilege sharing in
the intimacy, hopes and dreams of my immigrant parent's vision,
the American dream and put it into the English language for
generations of De Ruggiero’s to come.

Ciao,

Bob De Ruggiero
